Velocity reducers announcement
Recently we have had players using velocity reducers so we have asked the iaa on the use of them.
The iaa have informed us they are banned in the us and uk due to unreliability, as the rubber wears out
the velocity increases so it is our decision to ban them from ctg in the view of safety and legality.
AEGs must meet the 1 joule limit without the use of a barrel velocity reducer .
If you have any questions you can contact me robbie or mad ozzie

Re: Velocity reducers announcement
As the regional rep for the IAA, and a member of CTG, I fully back this decision by the club.
These reducers are a bad idea, they do not reflect the true rating of a device and only go a small way to reducing the devices power. The rating of an AEG is based on the unit with not additions and the hop-off fully turned off. Even if the reducer did successfully reduce a devices power, it would still be capable of exceeding the one joule limit and thus still illegal.
Therefore their ban at sites is the favored solution. Permanent resolutions to downgrading devices, like changing the spring is the only method recommended/accepted.
